Leon Moore

Leon Moore joined Fox 43 and WAVY-TV in June 2004.

While a native of Dayton, Ohio, Leon is no stranger to Hampton Roads. Leon spent most of his 11-year active duty Navy career in Norfolk. He's a commissioned officer in the naval reserves. Leon graduated Magna Cum Laude from Norfolk State University.

Prior to coming to Hampton Roads, he worked as a reporter/weekend anchor at WAGT-TV in Augusta, GA.

An award winning reporter, Leon has covered several major stories during his career. He reported from the 2002 Masters golf tournament when Martha Burke, head of the National Council of Women's Organizations, protested the Augusta National Golf club's all male membership policy. Leon also covered the Godfather of Soul, James Browns' legal troubles. Leon won a Georgia Association of Broadcasters award for his story about the state of Georgia not requiring daycares to carry liability insurance in order to be licensed. The story helped change that states daycare insurance laws. Leon has also flown with the Blue Angels, the Navy's aerobatic flying team.

Television news runs in Leon's family. His brother is Len Cannon, former Dateline NBC correspondent.

When Leon's not spending time with his wife Denise and two boys, Alexander and Cedric, you can catch him in the gym or working a crossword puzzle.
